AU Small Finance Bank, the first small finance bank in India in more than a decade to receive in-principle approval to transition into a Universal Bank, has announced a strategic collaboration with Intellect Design Arena, a global provider of AI-first enterprise technology platforms. The partnership is aimed at accelerating AU SFB’s transformation into an AI-first bank powered by enterprise-wide intelligence and scalable digital infrastructure.
The collaboration marks a significant step in the adoption of enterprise AI within India’s banking sector. By combining AU SFB’s “First Principles Thinking” and customer-centric banking approach with Intellect’s Purple Fabric platform, the bank plans to embed intelligence across customer journeys, operational workflows, and business decision-making processes.
With a presence of more than 2,790 banking touchpoints across 21 states and 4 Union Territories, serving over 1.2 crore customers, AU SFB is looking to modernize its banking operations through a scalable and flexible AI architecture capable of enabling domain-driven innovation at scale.
As part of the initiative, the bank will adopt Intellect’s Purple Fabric as its enterprise AI foundation. The platform offers multi-model flexibility, enterprise-scale orchestration, and seamless integration with existing systems, allowing AU SFB to modernize its commercial banking operations while supporting future-ready AI capabilities.
To accelerate early business outcomes, AU SFB will also deploy PF Credit agents — AI-powered decision engines designed to analyze customer data in real time, automate credit evaluations, and improve lending consistency and efficiency across retail and MSME banking segments.

He noted that the bank was looking for a platform that goes beyond conventional AI adoption and enables scalable, domain-driven innovation. According to Agarwal, Purple Fabric provides the flexibility and enterprise scale required to strengthen decision-making, enhance risk assessment, and deliver more personalized banking experiences to customers.
