The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MINT by Egyptian Gulf Bank (EGBANK), bringing together the stock exchange and the bank's entrepreneurship platform to support financial innovation and startup development in Egypt.

The agreement seeks to improve financial and investment awareness among young people while providing emerging businesses with greater exposure to the country's capital markets. The partnership will combine EGX's experience in securities markets with MINT's work in entrepreneurship, financial education and business acceleration.

The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Abaza, First Deputy Chief Executive Officer of EGBANK, and Omar Radwan, Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange. The signing took place in the presence of Dr Mohamed Farid Saleh, Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Mohamed Sabry, Vice Chairman of EGX, alongside senior representatives from the financial sector.

Partnership Introduces Fintech Hackathon and Financial Training

The collaboration will centre on two initiatives: the MINT × EGX Hackathon and a programme of specialist financial literacy courses.

The hackathon will focus on investment and trading, encouraging fintech entrepreneurs and startups to develop technology-based solutions addressing challenges and opportunities within Egypt's capital markets.

Selected participants will have access to engagement and mentoring opportunities with EGX, including guidance on market operations and relevant regulatory requirements.

The initiative is intended to help early-stage businesses understand how regulated financial markets operate and identify potential opportunities for developing and expanding their products.

By connecting entrepreneurs with capital market expertise, the organisations aim to encourage the development of financial technologies that respond to the needs of investors and market participants.

Financial Literacy Programme Targets Young Investors

Alongside the hackathon, MINT and EGX will introduce training courses designed to strengthen financial knowledge among students, young professionals and entrepreneurs.

MINT will deliver the programme with specialist content provided by the Egyptian Exchange.

The courses will cover personal financial management, financial independence, investment fundamentals and regulated investment channels. They will also address long-term financial planning and the relationship between financial knowledge, career development and economic stability.

The organisations expect the training to help participants develop a better understanding of investment decisions and the responsibilities associated with participating in financial markets.

Improving access to financial education is also expected to support broader participation in Egypt's formal financial sector, particularly among younger generations and first-time investors.

EGX and EGBANK Seek Closer Links Between Startups and Capital Markets

The agreement reflects efforts to strengthen cooperation between Egypt's banking sector, capital markets and entrepreneurship community.

Through MINT, EGBANK provides financial education, business development support and opportunities for emerging entrepreneurs. The partnership with EGX will extend those activities into capital market education and investment-related innovation.

For the Egyptian Exchange, working with an entrepreneurship platform creates an additional channel for engaging with young businesses and potential future market participants.

The collaboration could also help startups understand the regulatory and commercial requirements involved in developing financial products for investment and trading activities.

By combining startup mentoring, financial education and capital market expertise, EGX and MINT aim to create stronger connections between entrepreneurs and established financial institutions.

The partnership forms part of wider efforts to encourage financial innovation in Egypt, where access to investment knowledge, regulatory guidance and institutional networks can influence the ability of emerging fintech businesses to grow.

Its longer-term impact will depend on how effectively the two organisations translate the planned training and mentoring initiatives into practical opportunities for participating startups.
